CONDITION
In some cases, customers may report the engine coolant temperature gauge on the combination
meter intermittently reading max hot, or “in the red zone,” (Fig.1) on a vehicle with no other symptoms
of overheating.
RECOMMENDATIONS
If the condition of your vehicle matches the condition described on this document:
1. Keep IG ON and
a. Take video and pictures showing the engine coolant temperature gauge position and
any warning messages on the Multi Information Display
b. Confirm engine coolant temperature in Techstream combination meter data list (Fig.2)
and engine data list (Fig.3) and take snapshot
c. Measure engine coolant temperature at upper radiator hose and take picture with visual
infrared thermometer (if available)
d. Turn IG Off
2. Create a TAS case and contact TAS and provide details prior to the repair. If it’s a weekend or
holiday continue with diagnosis and repair, save all parts and details, contact TAS on the next
available work day and review details with TAS engineer.
a. When creating a TAS case:
i. Use the following case coding to ensure it is directed to the Electrical group: Vehicle
Interior + Meter/Gauge/Display + Temp Gauge + Abnormal Operation
ii. Attach Pictures, Videos, and Techstream File to TAS Case
