Issue
Symptom:
For L9N CM2380 L124B and L9N CM2380 L130B engines only:
Engine front gear cover deforms and contacts the engine crankshaft pulley, causing
a lubricating oil leak.
All Engines:
Fault Codes 555 and/or 556
Fault Codes 555 and/or 556 Root Cause:
Closed crankcase ventilation system blocked but has not malfunctioned.
Verification
Verify that the OEM supplied closed crankcase ventilation hoses are properly
routed. See Service Bulletin, Operation and Troubleshooting of Closed Crankcase Ventilation
(CCV) Systems for Automotive Natural Gas Engines, Bulletin 5579487
(/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/bulletin/5579487.html).
Use INSITE™ electronic service tool to check for active or inactive counts of Fault Codes 555
or 556 in the last 25 engine hours.
On L9N CM2380 L124B and L9N CM2380 L130B engines only:
Inspect the front gear cover for signs of contact with the crankshaft pulley.

New Crankcase Pressure Relief Valve: Fault Codes 555 and 556
On B6.7N CM2380 B150B engines only:
Verify that the engine is model year 2018 or 2019 by looking in at the engine dataplate.
Figure 1 below shows the layout of a B6.7N CM2380 B150B engine dataplate.
The year listed in the text of the “IMPORTANT ENGINE INFORMATION” field will
indicate the model year of the engine.
This Technical Service Bulletin does not apply to B6.7N CM2380 B150B engines with a
model year other than 2018 or 2019.

Resolution
Verify that the engine has been operating at below freezing temperature 0°C [ 32°F ].
Install a crankcase pressure relief valve. See corresponding service manual. Reference
Procedure 001-132 in Section 1. See Table 2 below.
Description of Change
This TSB announces a new crankcase pressure relief valve to reduce occurrences of engine
damage due to a closed crankcase ventilation system that has been blocked by ice while operating
in below freezing conditions.
Reason for Change
The new crankcase pressure relief valve will reduce crankcase pressure if the closed crankcase
ventilation system is blocked with ice, while allowing the closed crankcase ventilation system to
work normally once the ice has melted and the resulting water has passed through the closed
crankcase ventilation system.

New Crankcase Pressure Relief Valve: Fault Codes 555 and 556
Customer Communication
This crankcase pressure relief valve is to prevent engine damage when engines are operated at
temperatures low enough for ice to form in the crankcase ventilation system. The crankcase
pressure relief valve should not be used to correct OEM crankcase ventilation hoses that are
improperly routed, which could lead to liquid water blocking the closed crankcase ventilation
system. See Service Bulletin, Operation and Troubleshooting of Closed Crankcase Ventilation
(CCV) Systems for Automotive Natural Gas Engines, Bulletin 5579487
(/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/bulletin/5579487.html) for more information.
