Incorrect gear placement on the shaft may lead to excessive axial end play resulting in leaks.
Solution

Maintenance Manuals and relevant service literature. Failure to follow
the instructions or heed the warnings could result in injury or death.
Proper care is your responsibility.

4. Stand up the water pump. Pull on the gear while pressing the housing as shown in Illustration 4. If there is
greater than 1 mm (0.04 inch) of movement the part is not acceptable for use.

necessary. Parts that are inspected and found to be acceptable will be marked with a label as shown above or
similar markings.
