2020 Rocket 3 Oil Requirements
In order to highlight engine oil requirements for new Triumph Rocket 3 models documented in
Technical News 199, the official Triumph owner’s manual recommends Castrol Power 1 4T 15W-50
synthetic motorcycle oil for all new Rocket 3 models. However, this particular viscosity is not offered
by Castrol in North America; so for North American dealers Triumph is recommending any high
quality name-brand full or semi-synthetic motorcycle oil in the proper 15W-50 weight that meets API
SH (or higher) and JASO MA-2.
It is important to note that 10W-40 grade oil used on many other models MUST NOT be used
in Rocket 3 models. Triumph has specified the heavier 15W-50 grade specifically for this
engine.
