Workshop findings: The fan may run permanently. At least two DTCs below are stored in the engine control module (ECM), J623 (address word 0001): DTC P218100 (fault in cooling system). DTC P017B00 (sensor for cylinder head temperature, implausible signal). DTC P308100 (engine temperature too low). DTC P01E400 (sender 3 for coolant temperature, implausible signal). Service 1. Remove the thermostat and check whether it closes completely. If the coolant is still warm, put the thermostat in cold water to restore its original condition. If there is a gap between chamber and seal, the thermostat is faulty. 2. Attach photos to the repair order which clearly shows that the thermostat does not close neatly. Note: After the repair, fill with G12evo coolant in the coolant circuit. Figure 1. Gap between chamber and seal. Note: Parts replacement of the coolant temperature sender does not solve this issue.
