19 Coolant warning comes on sporadically but the coolant level is correct 19 20 02 2058997/1 March 25, 2020. Model(s) Year VIN Range Vehicle-Specific Equipment R8 2016 – 2020 All Not Applicable Condition Customer statement: The low coolant level warning comes on sporadically. Workshop findings: The coolant level in the coolant expansion tank is correct and no leak is present. Technical Background The cooling system of the Audi R8 has a total volume of approx. 25.8 quarts. The change in cooling system volume throughout the temperature range is about the same. Certain conditions could trigger a sporadic low coolant warning, for example: coolant system volume, coolant pump speed or coolant temperature. Production Solution Not applicable. Service Note: Under certain condition’s fluctuations in the coolant tank level in this high capacity cooling system are considered normal and replacement of the coolant tank will not solve this issue. Warranty claims submitted for coolant tank replacement for this condition are subject to review. Service proceed as follows: Try to reproduce the customer concern. Let the vehicle cool down until the coolant temperature has dropped below 104°F. Then check the coolant level in the coolant expansion tank and fill it to the maximum line. Pre-Delivery inspection: Due to the very large cooling system, R8 vehicles are leaving the factory with a slightly overfilled cooling system to compensate for a possible drop in the coolant level. Observe the information in the repair manual or the maintenance tables: Do not correct the overfilled coolant tank during the PDI. During all other services where the cooling system has to be checked, the coolant level must be checked at a coolant temperature below 104°F and if necessary fill to the maximum line only.
