Use Safe Shop Practices at All Times. To avoid personal injury: a. Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn. Safety glasses and protective gloves are required for working with DEF Fluid. b. Turn the main battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. c. Ensure that both the front and the rear wheels are chocked. d. Position the ENGINE RUN and ENGINE START switches on the engine compartment remote control box to the OFF position. e. Allow enough time for components to cool down prior to working in the engine compartment. SERVICE BULLETIN 3132 Ambient Temperature Sensor Relocation 1.0 Description This bulletin outlines the steps to relocate the ambient temperature sensor from the spare tire compartment to the bumperette to improve the accuracy of the sensor reading. This bulletin needs to be done in conjunction with Service Bulletin 3123. 2.0 Material requirements For coaches equipped with an ISX/ X12 engine, no material is required. For coaches equipped with a DD13 engine, the following material is required: ITEM 1 3.0 PART NO 19-4-7 QTY U/M 1 EA DESCRIPTION Clamp - Line Support, 29/32 Dia Special tools No special tools required. 4.0 Procedure for the coaches equipped with an ISX/ X12 engine 4.1 Disconnecting the ambient temperature sensor Open the front junction box door by pulling the lever on the driver’s left-hand console. Pull the lever to open Front Junction Box door Open front junction box door Motor Coach Industries Ltd. Page 2 of 10 SERVICE BULLETIN 3132 Ambient Temperature Sensor Relocation Remove and discard the nut and bolt securing the p-clamp. Save the p-clamp Remove and discard the bolt and nut Unplug the harness from the ambient temperature sensor. Save the ambient temperature sensor. Unplug the harness 4.2 Rerouting the ambient temperature sensor to the bumperette Cut the tie wraps securing the sensor harness. Cut tie wraps Motor Coach Industries Ltd. Page 3 of 10 SERVICE BULLETIN 3132 Ambient Temperature Sensor Relocation Pull the grommet of the clearance hole through which the fog light harness is fed to the exterior. Pull the grommet CAUTION Do not damage the fog light harness passing through the grommet Feed the sensor harness through the grommet into the cavity behind the LH bumperette. Cavity behind the LH bumperette Feed sensor harness through the grommet Re-install the grommet. Motor Coach Industries Ltd. Page 4 of 10 SERVICE BULLETIN 3132 Ambient Temperature Sensor Relocation 4.3 Re-installing the ambient temperature sensor Pull the front bumper link to open the front bumper. Pull the front bumper link Re-connect the harness to the ambient temperature sensor. Remove and save the bottom bolt of the LH bumperette. Remove and save the bolt Motor Coach Industries Ltd. Page 5 of 10 SERVICE BULLETIN 3132 Ambient Temperature Sensor Relocation Install the ambient temperature sensor to the bumperette at the location of the bottom bolt using existing p-clamp and bolt. Install ambient temperature sensor using existing p-clamp and bolt Make sure to face the sensor upwards as shown in the picture above. 5.0 Procedure for the coaches equipped with a DD13 engine 5.1 Disconnecting the ambient temperature sensor Open the front junction box door by pulling the lever on the driver’s left-hand console. Remove and discard the washer and nut Unplug the harness from the ambient temperature sensor. Save the ambient temperature sensor. 5.2 Rerouting the ambient temperature sensor harness to the bumperette Cut the tie wraps securing the sensor harness. Pull the grommet CAUTION Do not damage the fog light harness passing through the grommet Feed the sensor harness through the grommet into the cavity behind the LH bumperette. Pull the front bumper link Re-connect the harness to the ambient temperature sensor. Remove and save the bottom bolt of the LH bumperette. Remove and save the bolt Motor Coach Industries Ltd. Page 9 of 10 SERVICE BULLETIN 3132 Ambient Temperature Sensor Relocation Install the ambient temperature sensor to the bumperette at the location of the bottom bolt using a p-clamp, MCI P/N: 19-4-47, and existing bolt. Install ambient temperature sensor using p-clamp and existing bolt Make sure to face the sensor upwards as shown in the picture above. End of the procedure Motor Coach Industries Ltd. Page 10 of 10
