Cause If the source of the issue(s) are not found after performing normal SI diagnostics, they could be caused by a shorted chassis harness (3) where it passes between the underbody floor structure and frame cross member above the spare tire, as shown below. Depending on which wire(s) are damaged will determine which vehicle system(s) are affected: Communication Busses High Speed Lan/Chassis Expansion, Electronic Suspension Control, Trailer Brake Control, etc. The spare tire has been removed to access the area. 1. Spare Tire Hoist 2. Left Rear Frame Rail 3. Area of Shorted Harness Correction: Repair the affected wiring as needed. To provide more clearance between the wiring harness and the frame / body, attempt to reshape or flatten the harness in the affected area so it is more of an oval shape. Apply anti abrasion tape to help hold the shape, and, if needed, add additional protection to the harness to prevent any damage from reoccurring. Warranty Information For wiring repairs covered under warranty, please refer to latest version of bulletin 10-00-89005.
