Symptom:
Fault Code 4585 coming active after engine control module (ECM) calibration or ECM
calibration code change
Root Cause:
Mismatch between the ECM code and the aftertreatment SCR temperature sensor module
A population of engines do not have a compatible aftertreatment selective catalyst reduction
(SCR) temperature sensor module. Fault Code 4585 is a diagnostic that runs continuously for
the first 50 hours of Engine Run Time to verify calibration and SCR compatibility. If the unit
does not have the compatible aftertreatment SCR temperature sensor module with the new
calibration, Fault Code 4585 could become active.
Confirmation
If Fault Code 4585 is active, ECM calibration code must be verified as compatible with the
aftertreatment SCR catalyst installed.
For ISX12 and ISX15 engines, follow the instructions in SCR compatibility tool
For ISB and ISL engines, follow the instruction in TSB150105
Resolution
To clear the active Fault Code 4585, a new aftertreatment SCR temperature sensor module must
be installed. See Table 1 below. See corresponding Service Manual. Reference Procedure 019449 in Section 19.
