SITUATION
A rattle noise is present from the area of the lower steering column trim (lower shroud).
CAUSE
One or more of the lower steering column trim latching mechanisms is broken.
CORRECTION
Inspect, and if necessary, replace the lower steering column trim.
PROCEDURE
1. Remove the lower steering column trim, following repair instructions REP 32 31 020 “Remove and
install/replace lower part of steering column shroud”.
2. Inspect the latching mechanism shown to
the left for damage. Is damage found?
Yes: Replace the lower steering
column trim. Replacement parts have
been improved.
No: Continue troubleshooting, this
bulletin does not apply.
