Issue
Symptom:
There are instances of engine stumbling issues experienced by the customer while
accelerating from standstill condition.
Instances of Fault Code 559 with amber MIL can occur.
Root Cause:
Fuel pump actuator could be sticky and behave erratically sometimes. The fuel pump actuator
may be malfunctioning.
Verification
If this vehicle has been repaired within the last 30 days for the same symptom, then reference
published troubleshooting.
If there is a FC559 but no performance issue like stumbles during acceleration, proceed with
the published troubleshooting tree for FC559.
If engine stumbles on acceleration with or without FC559, then perform fuel pump actuator
malfunctioning steps mentioned below.

Conditions
Engine running at high idle.
Connect the recommended Cummins® electronic service tool or equivalent.
Action
Use the recommended Cummins® electronic service tool or equivalent.
Monitor Commanded Fuel Rail Pressure.
Monitor Measured Fuel Rail Pressure.
Specification
Proceed to the Repair section below if the Measured Fuel Rail Pressure deviates from the
Commanded Fuel Rail Pressure by more than following: 100 bar [ 1450 psi ]
Resolution
If the commanded fuel rail pressure is not within the specification listed above, then replace
the fuel pump actuator. See ISL9 CM2350 L101 Service Manual, Bulletin 4310787. Refer to
Procedure 019-117 in Section 19. (/qs3/pubsys2/xml/en/procedures/185/185-019-117-tr.html)
