Customer states:
 There is an oil leak from the front end or the engine compartment.
Workshop findings:
 The customer statement can be confirmed.
 The oil leak can be seen along the case seam of
the bevel box (Figure 1), on the passenger side of
the propeller shaft on side that faces the engine. It
should be in-between the two bolts in the picture
below marked with arrows (Figure 2). These bolts
connect the bevel box to engine bracket (Figure 3
Position 1).

Service
If the condition above is confirmed perform the following the repair.
1.
Remove the bevel box according to the Elsa repair manual.
2.
Thoroughly clean the bevel box in the area of the case seam (Figure 1) and the two housing bolts holes
(Figure 2 and Figure 3).
Tip: The old sealant must be completely removed, for example, with a scraper or knife.
3.
Apply silicone sealant (part number
D 174 003 M2) to the case seam
(Figure 4, yellow arrows). Apply a
continuous seam of the silicone with
a width of about 10 mm (Figure 4,
red lines) and a height of about 3
mm.

Apply silicone sealant (part number
D 174 003 M2) continuously to the
holes of the housing bolts just
before installation (Figure 5, red
circles).

5.
Continuously apply the silicone
sealant to the shoulder of the
removed housing bolts just before
installation to form a seal at the
engine bracket (Figure 6, position
1).

6.
Reinstall the bevel box according to the repair manual.

Tip: The sealant needs to harden for 2 hours before the powertrain is allowed to come up to operating
temperature. The vehicle can be operated to remove from a hoist and parked elsewhere while the sealant
hardens. After the sealant has hardened, test drive and confirm that the leak has been repaired.
