Symptom/Vehicle Issue: Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Rub Through Of MDS
Solenoid Wiring. P3449, P3441, P3425, And P3401 May Be Set In The PCM
Discussion: The heat shield for the driver’s side exhaust manifold can easily deform
during assembly or repair. The heat shield is known to deform in such a way that it
contacts the MDS solenoid wiring harness located at the rear of the driver’s cylinder
head.
Diagnosis: Inspect the clearance between the heat shield and the MDS solenoid
wiring at the rear of the drivers cylinder head. Confirm that there is a minimum of
15mm of clearance between the edge of the heat shield and the wiring harness.
