CONDITION
This Tech Tip applies to 2019 model year RAV4 Adventure/Limited grade equipped with torque
vectoring AWD system ONLY.
Some customers may experience a buzz/groan at 20-30 mph when accelerating from a stop and/or at
13-20 mph on deceleration after driving the vehicle for 15-20 minutes or more.
This condition occurs with “Normal” drive mode selected.
RECOMMENDATIONS
-
Confirm noise source is transfer case assembly.
o Refer to attached example noise files below:
 “Noise Example Without Chassis Ears” – Noise at time of Disconnect (14 seconds
in) / Noise at time of Connect (17 seconds in)


“Noise Example With Chassis Ears” – Noise at time of Disconnect (2 seconds in) /
Noise at time of Connect (7 seconds in)
Follow the repair procedure in T-SB-0019-20 (Abnormal Buzz/Groan Noise at 20 - 30 mph) to
address this condition.
