Tech Tip T-TT-0559-19 Subject May 27, 2020 Market Click Noise at Approximately 20-30 mph Service Category Section Drivetrain Transfer/4wd/AwdAwd USA Applicability 2019 RAV4 APPLICABLE VEHICLES 2019 RAV4 CONDITION This Tech Tip ONLY applies to 2019 model year RAV4 Adventure/Limited grade vehicles equipped with torque vectoring AWD system. Some customers may experience a clicking type noise at approximately 20-30 mph with “Normal” or “ECO” drive mode selected. RECOMMENDATIONS Clicking noise may be heard during engagement/disengagement (connect/disconnect) of the AWD system. This noise is considered a characteristic of the system. Compare to a known good vehicle prior to diagnosis. See example audio file of characteristic noise in “Link References” section below. Characteristic click noise example: - Audio recording was taken from a unit on a bench with component (rear differential/transfer) outside of vehicle. - Click noise sound level will be reduced when inside vehicle.
