Water Pump Inlet Tube Fastener Torque
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves checking the torque on the water pump inlet tube fasteners to possibly
eliminate coolant leak at this location.

2018 - 2020

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: North
America, APAC, EMEA and **LATAM**.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built before **June 24, 2020 (MDH 0624XX)**
equipped with a 2.0L I4 DOHC DI Turbo Engine W/ESS (Sales Code EC1) or 2.0L I4
DOHC DI Turbo Etorque Engine (Sales Code EC3).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may describe either a coolant leak or the coolant level is low.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Diagnosis Procedure.
1. Pressure check the coolant system. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in
DealerCONNECT> Service Library under: Service Info>07 - Cooling / Diagnosis and Testing
>Leak Testing>Pressure Tester Method.
2. Was coolant found to be leaking from the water pump inlet tube at the engine (Fig. 1) ?
• YES>>> Proceed to Step 1 of the Repair Procedure.
• NO>>> Coolant was not leaking from this area. This Bulletin does not apply. Normal
diagnosis should be performed.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Torque the water pump inlet tube fasteners to exactly 11 N·m (97 in. lbs) (Fig. 1) .

2. Pressure check the coolant system. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in
DealerCONNECT>Service Library under: Service Info>07 - Cooling / Diagnosis and Testing
>Leak Testing>Pressure Tester Method.
3. Is coolant still leaking from the water pump inlet tube at the engine (Fig. 1) ?
• YES>>> Further diagnosis should be performed.
• NO>>> This bulletin has been completed.
