This noise may or may not be present at the time vehicle comes in. Cause Upon investigation you may nd DTC P0324 set in the ECM. Vehicle may also have a slight squeak noise coming from the front of engine. We have determined that at times this code can be set by noise from the water pump. Correction: If this condition is found perform the following inspections prior to diagnosing per SI. a) Listen to the water pump with a stethoscope or chassis ears to see if any unusual noise is heard. Compare to similar vehicle to con rm. b) Watch the knock retard bank to bank on GDS2, then remove the belt and observe knock retard again. If there is a di erence this PI applies. If no noises are heard or there is no di erence in knock retard then this PI does not apply. Normal SI diagnostics should be followed. If a noise is heard or a di erence is made removing the belt, then replace the water pump and reevaluate the concern. NOTE: This is a preliminary temporary diagnostic and repair. As more investigation information becomes available this PI will be updated or advanced to a bulletin.
