Symptom-based workshop manual Service 21/13 ENU 2873 2 2873N0 Eliminating drive symptoms: Reworking crankshaft pulse sender (Engine difficult to start and rough-running/SY2113) General Information Model Year: As of 2012 up to 2014 Sports Cars (9x1) Information These symptom-based repair instructions replace the previous repair instructions. Changes/additions compared to the previous repair instructions: ♦ Information about the revised part number index and the fact that the spacer MUST be fitted was added under "Tools and materials". Symptom The engine is difficult to start and is rough-running. Cause, date of introduction and remedial action Cause The crankshaft pulse sender signal can be misinterpreted under certain operating conditions due to unfavourable tolerances between the crankshaft pulse sender (also referred to as 'speed sensor') and sensor wheel. Date of introduction As of 12 September 2013, a spacer is fitted on the crankshaft pulse sender as a tolerance compensation measure. Remedial action Before doing any other work, check that a spacer is already fitted on the crankshaft pulse sender. If the spacer is not yet fitted on the crankshaft pulse sender, the spacer must be retrofitted. Before doing any other work, check that the spacer is already fitted on the crankshaft pulse sender. You can do this using a mirror, for example. Spacer is already fitted: End of action required. 2. Remove crankshaft pulse sender, see Workshop Manual '287319 Removing and installing crankshaft pulse sender section on "Removing"'. 3. Fit spacer (Part No. 991.606.912.00) between the transmission housing and crankshaft pulse sender. 4. Install crankshaft pulse sender, see Workshop Manual '287319 Removing and installing crankshaft pulse sender - section on "Installing"'. End of action required.
