GROUP BODY ELECTRICAL DATE Technical Service Bulletin SUBJECT: SEPTEMBER, 2020 NUMBER 20-BE-009H-1 MODEL(S) GENESIS (DH) MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH WARRANTY EXTENSION (TXXH), REPLACEMENT, AND SOFTWARE UPDATE This TSB supersedes TSB# 20-BE-009H to revise replacement of the left side multifunction switch only and to include a software update. Description: This bulletin provides the warranty extension, service procedure to replace the left side of the multifunction switch assembly, and perform a software update. Certain vehicles may exhibit intermittent headlight flickering while driving with the light switch on AUTO light mode. Hyundai is extending the multifunction switch assembly warranty to 15 years with unlimited miles from the date of original retail delivery, or date of first use (whichever occurs first). Refer to the warranty and service parts information outlined in this bulletin whenever the multifunction switch assembly replacement is required. TIME CAUSAL PART 0.9 M/H 93410-B1400FFF NATURE CAUSE I11 ZZ4 NOTE 1: Submit Claim on Campaign Claim Entry Screen NOTE 2: If a part is found in need of replacement while performing the repair for this TSB, and the affected part is still under warranty, please submit a separate claim using the same Repair Order. If the affected part is out of warranty, submit a prior approval request for goodwill consideration prior to performing the work. Service Procedure: MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE ! CAUTION ENSURE THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH ASSEMBLY IS REPLACED AND THE SOFTWARE IS UPDATED. IF ONLY ONE OF THE PROCEDURES IS PERFORMED, THE LIGHT SWITCH WILL NOT OPERATE PROPERLY. 1. Record the customer’s radio preset stations for AM/FM/SXM. TSB #: 20-BE-009H-1 Page 2 of 12 SUBJECT: MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH WARRANTY EXTENSION (TXXH) , REPLACEMENT, AND SOFTWARE UPDATE 2. Turn the steering wheel to the upright position as shown in the reference picture. 3. Remove the negative (-) battery terminal and wait 3 minutes. Tightening Torque : 3.9 ~ 5.8 Nm (0.4 ~ 0.6 kgf.m, 2.8 ~ 4.3 lb-ft) ! CAUTION AFTER DISCONNECTING THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL, WAIT 3 MINUTES TO ALLOW THE SYSTEM TO FULLY DISCHARGE. 4. Locate the driver airbag (DAB) guide hole (A, B, C). A. The guide hole is under the steering wheel. B. The guide hole is located on the left and behind the steering wheel. In this position the guide hole is hidden until the steering wheel is turned 90 degrees clockwise. C. The guide hole is located on the right and behind the steering wheel. In this position the guide hole is hidden until the steering wheel is turned 90 degrees counterclockwise. TSB #: 20-BE-009H-1 C B A Page 3 of 12 SUBJECT: 5. MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH WARRANTY EXTENSION (TXXH), REPLACEMENT, AND SOFTWARE UPDATE Place a small flathead screwdriver into the guide hole (A) located at the bottom of steering wheel and gently press the spring inside the driver airbag (DAB) module. A When the spring is engaged, the bottom of the DAB will slightly pop up. 6. Turn the steering wheel clockwise until the driver airbag guide hole is lined up top as shown in the picture to the right. Place a small flathead screwdriver into the guide hole (B), and gently bend it back to release the DAB spring. B When the spring is engaged, the left side of the DAB will slightly pop up. MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH WARRANTY EXTENSION (TXXH) , REPLACEMENT, AND SOFTWARE UPDATE Turn the steering wheel counterclockwise until the driver airbag guide hole is lined up top. Place a small flathead screwdriver into the guide hole (C), and gently bend it back to release the DAB spring. C When the spring is engaged, the right side of the DAB will slightly pop up. 8. Turn the steering wheel to return it to upside position. Slightly lift the DAB outward (D). D 9. Disconnect the DAB module connector (E). E TSB #: 20-BE-009H-1 Page 5 of 12 SUBJECT: MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH WARRANTY EXTENSION (TXXH), REPLACEMENT, AND SOFTWARE UPDATE 10. Disconnect the steering wheel connector (F). F 11. Loosen the steering wheel fixing bolt (G). Tightening Torque : 44.1 ~ 49.0 Nm (4.5 ~ 5.0 kgf.m, 32.5 ~36.1 lb-ft) G 12. Remove the steering wheel assembly (H). Remove the column shaft upper cover (J) using a flathead screwdriver (I). I J Insert the flathead screwdriver and pry upward. J 14. Use a Phillips screwdriver, and remove the column shaft lower cover fixing screws (K). K TSB #: 20-BE-009H-1 Page 7 of 12 SUBJECT: MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH WARRANTY EXTENSION (TXXH), REPLACEMENT, AND SOFTWARE UPDATE 15. Remove the column shaft lower cover (L). L M 16. Carefully release the 3 locking tabs (M), and remove the clock spring (N) by pulling it outward. Pull the clock spring outward. Remove the multifunction switch fixing screws (P). P 19. Remove the multifunction switch assembly (R). Separate the light and windshield wiper switch by pushing the locking tab (S) as shown in the picture on the right. S 21. Replace the light switch with the new part (U) and attach it to the old windshield wiper switch (T). U T 22. Reinstall the removed parts in reverse order of removal. Select ECU Upgrade. 2. Select MFSW as the system to update. 3. Check the current version of the MFSW ROM ID and compare it to the ROM ID Information Table listed above before attempting to update the MFSW system. 4. Perform GDS software update. Refer to TSB 15-GI-001 for the tablet-based Mobile GDS ECU update procedures. 5. After the software has updated, check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes in the ALL menus and erase any DTC. 6. Confirmed all functions are operating normally. Reprogram the customer’s radio presets for AM/FM/SXM. TSB #: 20-BE-009H-1 Page 12 of 12
