Set the front wheels straight ahead. 2. Make sure the ignition is turned to OFF. 3. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable from the battery. Wait at least 3 minutes before working. 4. Apply protection tape in the area as shown. NOTE Use caution to prevent scratching the steering wheel. 5. Remove the access panel. Then, disconnect the driver’s airbag inflator connector on the cable reel harness and the horn switch connector. Page 2 of 5 6. Remove the TORX bolts using a TORX T30 bit, then remove the driver’s airbag. NOTE Make sure the terminal tab of the horn switch connector stays attached to the driver’s airbag side as the airbag is being removed. 7. Set the airbag on a towel facing up to avoid any damage. Page 3 of 5 8. Cut the wool felt into two 50 x 10 mm pieces. Use isopropyl alcohol to wipe down the area where the wool felt will be applied. Apply one piece to each side of the steering wheel as shown. Do not apply the felt too high; it may be visible after the airbag is installed. Page 4 of 5 9. Install the driver’s airbag with new TORX bolts torqued to 9.4 N.m (6.9 lb-ft). NOTE Make sure the clearance between the steering wheel and horn pad is the specified value (2.0 +/- 0.5 mm) and that the felt tape is not visible. 10. Connect the driver’s airbag inflator connector to the cable reel harness, and install the horn switch connector. Then, install the access panel. 11. Connect the battery terminals. 12. Clear any DTCs with the i-HDS. 13. Turn the ignition to ON. Make sure the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds, and then goes off. 14. Make sure the horn works properly. END Page 5 of 5
