Issue
During troubleshooting on engines equipped with high mount turbochargers with top mount turbocharger actuators, lubricating oil
has been found around the turbocharger sector gear and the variable geometry turbocharger actuator gear. This is normal and does
not indicate a malfunction has occurred.
Verification
See Figure 1 and Figure 2 below for examples of acceptable lubricating oil leakage near the turbocharger sector gear and the
variable geometry turbocharger actuator gear.

Resolution
Turbochargers and variable geometry turbocharger actuators should not be replaced if lubricating oil is found as shown in Figure 1
and Figure 2 above. For confirmation of actual lubricating oil leak from the turbocharger or turbocharger actuator:
See the corresponding Service Manual. Reference Procedure 010-033 and 010-134 in Section 10.
Published troubleshooting should be continued for the symptom(s) or fault code(s) present.
