This issue will result in the Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL) setting DTCs
C103D.11, C103D.16 and C103D.17 against the position sensor input and will
command headlamps into failsafe. The chassis position sensors have a +/- 10%
tolerance on the carrying frequency (the frequency that the Pulse Width
Modulation (PWM) is determined within), the AFL allows for only +/- 5%
tolerance. Therefore, a sensor that is outside of the +/- 5% tolerance, will result
in the AFL setting DTCs against the position sensor input and will command
headlamps into failsafe. This seems to be temperature sensitive, the sensor
reads higher mainly on cold starts and when it is a colder day may linger longer.
The AFL will recover as soon as the sensors come back within the +/- 5 AFL
tolerance, normal leveling will resume, DTCs will go to history, and DIC will go
away – will not require a new ignition cycle to recover.
Correction:
Reprogram the AFL Module with software part number 84993226.
