is not visible after removing the cover for the
threaded opening for the front towing loop
(Figure 1).

 There is no opening in the bumper foam insert
where the threaded receiver was located

Technical Background
The threaded opening for the towing loop
in the front of the vehicle is no longer
installed as of the PI version of the A4 and
A5 platforms. The threaded opening for
the towing loop in the rear of the vehicle
remains present as in the past.
The Owner’s Manual correctly describes
the location and use of the towing loop
(Figure 3 - 4).
Note:
Making an opening in the bumper foam
insert in this area or any modification of
the foam bumper insert is not permitted.
