Rust On Wheel Lug Studs
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the wheel lug studs with the newer capped studs.

NAFTA, LATAM, EMEA, and APAC.
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may describe the lug studs are rusting.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair
Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in
DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: Service Info> 04 - Vehicle Quick
Reference/Hoisting/Standard Procedure.
2. Remove and discard the wheel lug studs from all four wheels (Fig. 2).

3. Install the capped wheel lug studs on all four wheels and tighten in a star pattern to
120 N·m (89 ft. lbs.).
4. Lower vehicle.
