DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a groan noise from the front brakes when braking at a very low speed
(approximately 6 mph/10 km/h). This is caused by a brake torque variation due to an uneven coating of the
brake pad friction material forming on the surface of the disc plate. To eliminate this concern, the surface
processing on the disc plate has been changed.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Replace both front brake discs.
3. Verify repair.

This is not a Mass Production Change (MPC). Use the “new” disc plate only to resolve the groan
noise concern.
All Mazda6 non-turbo models use medium disc plates. GEPC not needed.
All 2019 and newer (US spec) / 2020 and newer (Mexico spec) Mazda6 turbo models use large
disc plates. GEPC not needed.
Most 2018 (US spec) / 2019 (Mexico spec) Mazda6 turbo models use medium disc plates, except
some near the end of production (which use large disc plates). Use GEPC to verify P/N.
