Porsche AG has released a new High Performance Axial Fan (VAS 231 001) to work with vehicles that have Petrol Particulate Filters (OPF). The reason for this bulletin is to have the dealers ready for upcoming vehicles that have Petrol Particulate
Filters (OPF) or may be imported from another market into the North American Market with Petrol Particulate Filters (OPF).
This axial fan is also mentioned in WM267429 for the 992 during R&I of the waterpump and bleed procedures. The VAS 231
001 cannot be sourced from VWAG (Snap-on) because of technical clarification issues in regards to the UL Listing and that
the VAS 231 001 is a 230V fan with an European plug. With the approval of PAG we have been able to find a suitable fan at
a lesser price that performs within the specifications of the VAS 231 001. The superseded axial fan part number will be FD650-DC and Snap-on Business Solutions will handle the distribution and warranty for the axial fan. Porsche Special Tools &
Equipment will auto-ship this axial fan under part number FD-650-DC starting on CW44/20, Monday, October 26, 2020. If

This fan part# is used in place of the VAS 231 001, because
the VAS 231 001 from Germany has a 240V European plug
and is not designed for the US Market. There are specific
Technical Specifications for this type of fan to accomodate the
needs to cool the vehicle correctly to prevent damage to the
vehicle.
