Introduction
Some 2015 – 2021 model year Corolla vehicles may exhibit a clicking noise when making turns
greater than 90 degrees and accelerating with the steering wheel on full lock, such as when
performing a U-turn. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY
 This repair is covered under the Toyota Powertrain Warranty. This warranty is in effect for
60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
 Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in

Repair Procedure
1. Confirm the condition exists.
A. Does the vehicle exhibit a clicking noise when accelerating with the steering wheel on full
lock and making turns greater than 90 degrees?
 YES — Continue to substep B.
 NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
B. Does the clicking noise occur in the left- and/or right-hand front drive shaft?
 YES — Continue to step 2.
 NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.
2. Does the left- and/or right-hand front drive shaft have ANY additional damage (grease leak,
torn boot, etc.)?

YES — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable
Repair Manual.

NO — Continue to step 3.

3. Replace the drive shaft with the appropriate part from the Parts Information table.
Refer to TIS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

2015 – 2016 Corolla:
Drivetrain – Drive Shaft/Propeller Shaft – “Drive Shaft / Propeller Shaft: Front Drive Shaft
Assembly: Removal / Installation”

2017 – 2019 Corolla:
Drivetrain – Drive Shaft/Propeller Shaft – “Drive Shaft / Propeller Shaft: Front Drive Shaft
Assembly: Removal / Installation”

2020 – 2021 Corolla:
Drivetrain – Drive Shaft/Propeller Shaft – “Drive Shaft / Propeller Shaft: Front Drive Shaft
Assembly (for 2ZR-FAE): Removal / Installation”
4. Confirm normal vehicle operation and the clicking noise is no longer present.
