Contents Product Affected Engines: B4.5 (All Versions) B6.7 (All Versions) L9 (All Versions) L9N (All Versions) Engine Serial Number (ESN) Range: 74677100 to 74678199 Issue Illegible ESN stamping on engine cylinder block. The sixth digit in the ESN is unreadable due to an issue with the stamping machine at the assembly plant. The sixth digit in this ESN range should be a number 1. Resolution No rework required unless requested by customer. If a rework is requested by the customer: Use abrasive pad or sandpaper to remove the ESN engraving from the engine cylinder block. See corresponding Service Manual. Reference Procedure 100-001 in Section E for ESN stamping location. Removal of exhaust system components may be required to provide appropriate access to the engraving location. Use a metal stamping kit to stamp the correct ESN onto the engine cylinder block, as listed on the engine data plate.
