Cause • B0001 - Steering Wheel Module Stage 1 High Control • B0002 - Steering Wheel Module Stage 2 High Control GM Engineering is attempting to determine the root cause of the above condition. Engineering has a need to gather information on vehicles PRIOR to repair that may exhibit this condition. As a result, this information will be used to "root cause" the customer's concern and develop/validate a field fix. Correction If you encounter a vehicle with the above concern, inspect where the resistance spikes are seen/go away within the airbag module system, following the steps listed below and contact one of the engineers with your findings. 1. Remove the top and bottom steering column shrouds. Refer to Steering Column Shroud Replacement in SI. 2. Use a MDI tool and plug it into the (ADL) to show a profile of the resistances. 1 Note: Example shown above of a High Resistance spike that should be seen to indicate high resistance. 3. 2.1. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right, then all the way to the left, and observe any spikes seen on any resistances. 2.2. Jerk/pulse the steering wheel left and right when the steering wheel is at absolute center, then fully turn the steering wheel to the left then fully turn to the right and observe any spikes seen on any resistances. Remove the complete steering column and get with engineering about shipping the steering column back. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in SI.
