DESCRIPTION:
If a front seat belt does not retract normally, please follow the information under “Service”.
Most replaced front seat belt does not have a fault and the warranty claim will not be approved. Make
sure to check that the B-panel is correct mounted (follow point 1 to 6 under “Service”) before deciding
to replace the seat belt.

SERVICE:
Remove B-pillar panel. Pull out the belt 0,5 to 1 meter. Release and observe if the belt retracts all the
way as normal.
- If the belt retracts normally without the B-pillar panel, proceed as follows:
See attachment “TJ32985.pdf”:
1. Inspect the belt adjustment mechanism. If the button is bent, try to straighten it. If it is broken,
replace.
2. Push the adjustment to its highest position.
3. Push the panel up under the inner liner as much as possible.
4. Fold down into normal position.
5. Check that height adjustment operates smoothly.
6. Check that the belt rolls out smoothly.
- If the belt does not retract with the B-pillar panel removed; replace the belt and send a Vehicle Report
so that we can order the replaced part back for analysis.
Warranty claim info:
If this TJ does not correct the problem, and another component needs to be replaced, than refer to this
TJ in the repair order text. Otherwise, the claim for replacing any related components (e.g., belt) will
be rejected.
