SUBJECT: ODOMETER MAINTENANCE PURPOSE This Team Tip has been released by Indian Motorcycle to provide information regarding odometer maintenance and address concerns about correct odometer value. The information included identifies where odometer data is calculated and stored, as well as outlines the correct actions to take if the component storing the data is replaced on different Indian Motorcycle models. Follow the Component Replacement Guide on page 2 to determine which action to use on page 3. Page 2 of 3 PROCEDURES Refer to the Component Replacement Guide to determine which procedure to use based on vehicle and model year. 2. Under “Special Tests” select “Ride Command/ Odometer Maintenance”. O D O M E T E R C H A N G E N O T I F I C AT I O N F O R M The Indian Motorcycle Odometer Change Notification Form is required for models that store odometer information in the Instrument Cluster. After an Instrument Cluster replacement, the miles will reset to zero. Prior to removal and replacement of the Instrument Cluster, make sure the mileage of the vehicle is documented. IMPORTANT The Odometer Change Notification Form needs to be completed to provide documentation of actual mileage. Failure to do so will prevent transfer of ownership in the future. Three copies of the form need to be made: 3. Follow the on-screen prompts. ECM REPLACEMENT For models with miles stored in the ECM, copying miles from the old ECM to the new ECM has been incorporated into Digital Wrench. This is performed in the background as part of the ECM programming process. No actions are needed to copy the mileage from the old ECM to the new ECM. • One copy for the customer • One copy for the dealership • One copy submitted to Polaris 1. Go to your dealer website. IMPORTANT 2. Under the Service and Warranty drop down, select STOP Site. 3. On the left side select “News, Forms, & Link”. 4. Select the Indian Motorcycle Odometer Change Notification Form. Avoid interchanging ECM’s, as it can result in incorrect odometer readings. Contact Tech Service if you have interchanged an ECM and need assistance. 1. Connect the motorcycle to Digital Wrench and select the appropriate vehicle. D I G I TA L W R E N C H O D O M E T E R M A I N T E N A N C E 2. Under “Special Tests” select “ECM Replacement”. The 2019 and 2020 FTR models store miles in the 4.3” Display or Instrument Cluster. If the 4.3” Display needs to be replaced, Digital Wrench provides an option to copy the previous mileage to the new display. Verify the latest version of Digital Wrench has been installed on your PC or laptop. Refer to the applicable Service Manual for the Digital Wrench Updates procedure. 1. Connect the motorcycle to Digital Wrench and select the appropriate vehicle. 3. Follow the on-screen prompts.
