Service Technical Information 228/20 ENU 0X00 0 Warranty Information: Extended Warranty for Reversing Light Function in Relation to the Transmission-Side Actuation of the Switch for the Reversing Light (228/20) Model Line: 911 Carrera (991) Model Year: As of 2012 up to 2015 Equipment: 7-speed manual transmission (I No. 487) Concerns: Reversing light function – PART ID 9472 (reversing light switch) Information: Extended warranty for reversing light function in relation to the transmission-side actuation of the switch for the reversing light. On a small number of 2012-2015 991 vehicles equipped with 7-speed manual transmission (I-no. 487), there is a possibility that the transmission side actuation for the reversing light switch on may have been manufactured below Porsche durability specifications. In rare instances, this could result in inoperative reversing lights. Porsche is notifying potentially affected customers that it is extending the warranty for the reversing light function. Validity: The warranty on the reversing light function in combination with the problem described lasts for 15 years as from the new vehicle delivery date with unlimited mileage. The extended warranty is displayed as an additional new vehicle warranty scope and contains the added information "Ext. Warranty 991 Reversing light" in the "Scope of coverage" column. All other warranty terms and conditions remain unchanged. Information: Scopes not covered by this extended warranty Other damage to the transmission and malfunctions in the reversing light function which are not caused by the described problem. Additionally, all damage or malfunctions caused by other external influences such as damage as a result of an accident, incorrect use or neglect of the vehicle. Restrictions on cover of the extended warranty The warranty and service information in the vehicle includes information about the warranty conditions for the vehicle. The owner should always read these warranty conditions carefully as the rights and obligations listed there also apply for the extended warranty. Invoicing: For processing warranty claims using "Ext. Warranty 991 Reversing light" the claim should be coded as Warranty type 111 under PART ID 9472 – Switch for reversing light as a damage causing component. The damage category must be selected in accordance with the customer complaint. If a mobility option is required in relation to repairs covered by the Technical warranty extension, this can be invoiced as part of the existing customer mobility program. The Customer mobility program regulations apply unchanged.
