SUBJECT:
Front Seat Side Shield Updated Service Procedure
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin informs the technician that when either of the front seat side shields are replaced the
buckle will need to be replaced as well. If only the buckle needs to be replaced the front seat
side shield will need to be modified.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: North
America, LATAM and EMEA.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before September 18, 2018 (MDH 0918XX).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The technician will need to know the following:
• When either of the front seat side shields are replaced the buckle will need to be replaced as
well.
• If only the buckle needs to be replaced the front seat side shield will need to be modified.
DIAGNOSIS:
If replacement of either of the subject parts is required, perform the Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove the affected front seat. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in
DealerCONNECT/Service Library under: Service Info 23 - Body / Seats, Front / Seat / Removal.
NOTE: When the buckle is replaced, ensure that the buckle is tightened to the seat at 45 N·m
(33 ft lbs.).
2. Remove inboard side shield. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in
DealerCONNECT/Service Library under: Service Info 23 - Body / Seats, Front / Side Shields,
Seat, Manual (or Power) / Removal.
3. Use a hand held rotary multi use tool or a file (Fig. 1) to elongate the hole to 12.5 mm (.5 in)
slot (Fig. 2) .

4. Install the back side shield and seat to the vehicle. Refer to the detailed service procedures
available in DealerCONNECT/Service Library under: Service Info 23 - Body / Seats, Front /
Side Shields, Seat, Manual (or Power) / Installation.
5. Install the affected front seat. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in
DealerCONNECT/Service Library under: Service Info 23 - Body / Seats, Front / Seat /
Installation.

Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
