Engine Door Debonding Inspection
Read this entire procedure before beginning work.
Use Safe Shop Practices at All Times.
To avoid personal injury:
a. Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn. Safety glasses and
protective gloves are required for working with DEF Fluid.
b. Turn the main battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
c. Ensure that both the front and the rear wheels are chocked.
d. Position the ENGINE RUN and ENGINE START switches on the engine
compartment remote control box to the OFF position.
e. Allow enough time for components to cool down prior to working in the engine
compartment.

This bulletin outlines steps to inspect engine compartment door de-bonding.

Material requirements
Refer to Section 5.1.
3.0
Special tools
Spray lubricant, MCI P/N: 23-01-0020.
4.0
Inspection
Open the engine door using the latch behind the curbside service door.

Inspect to see if the fiberglass section of the door is intact to the metal frame.
If the fiberglass section of the door is intact to the metal frame, continue to Section 5.0.
Otherwise, contact your MCI representative or nearest MCI service center to rework the
door using internal procedure P03-267.

5.0
Replacing shoulder screws
This section of the procedure is not required if the fiberglass section of the door is
observed to be de-bonded from the metal frame.

Screw- Shoulder, .5X3.25 SS
Rework
On the driver side, remove the shoulder screw, lock nut bonding short link assembly to
the frame tube. Save the lock nut for later use and discard the shoulder screw.
Remove and save the lock nut.
Discard the shoulder screw
Re-install the short link using a new shoulder screw, MCI P/N: 19-01-2385, and existing
lock nut. Torque the shoulder screw to 21 FT-LBS.
Re-install short link assembly
using shoulder screw, 19-012385, and existing nut
Repeat the steps on the curbside.
Apply spray lubricant, MCI P/N: 23-01-0020, to hinge joints.
Lubricate hinge joints regularly following the service intervals specified in MCI
maintenance manual.
