911 Carrera (4) GTS Cabriolet: Instrument cluster coding
Vehicle Type:
911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet/911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet
Model Year:
2015
Concerns:
Display of the vehicle designation in the multi-function display in the instrument cluster
Information:
During the production process, we have discovered that no convertible top status messages
are displayed in the instrument cluster for 911 Carrera (4) GTS Cabriolet vehicles due to an
incorrect coding table.
To ensure that the convertible top status messages are displayed in the instrument cluster, the
instrument cluster on these vehicles has been coded using a corresponding coding table for 911 Carrera
(4)S Cabriolet vehicles at the factory as an interim solution.
As a result, the "Carrera (4)S" logo is currently displayed in the multi-function display in the instrument
cluster instead of the "Carrera (4) GTS" logo for 911 Carrera (4) GTS Cabriolet vehicles.
This means that there is currently a difference between the Coupé and Cabriolet version of the 911
Carrera (4) GTS in terms of the logo that is displayed in the multi-function display:

Please note that if a complaint about this is received, the instrument cluster must not be re-coded at
present using the PIWIS Tester in order to correct the fault or for standardisation purposes because if it is,
the convertible top status messages will no longer be displayed in the instrument cluster.
Please inform your customers about this if necessary and please note that the instrument cluster must
not be re-coded on these vehicles even in the course of further work or during fault finding.

Introduction:
•
PIWIS Tester software version 14.900 (should be available from 18.12.2014):
With this PIWIS Tester software version, the coding table that is already used in production will be
available on the PIWIS Tester as an interim solution.
The instrument cluster can be coded again in the dealer organisation using this software
version.
Once coding is complete, the convertible top status messages will be displayed correctly, but the
"Carrera (4)S" logo will still be displayed instead of the “Carrera (4) GTS” logo in the multi-function
display.

PIWIS Tester software version 15.200 (should be available from February 20, 2015):
With this PIWIS Tester software version, a corrected coding table will be available on the PIWIS Tester.
This can be used to code the instrument cluster correctly so that both the convertible top status
messages and the "Carrera (4) GTS" logo will be displayed.
To standardize the affected vehicles, they will then be assigned to a workshop campaign during which the
instrument cluster must be re-coded.
