Advanced Technical Information 911 (991) Wheel Speed Sensor Faults Vehicle Type: 911 (991) Model Year: 2017 Customer Concern: 911 (991) 1704 4511 Binder – 4 – Chassis 4 While driving the vehicle, these warning lights will illuminate in the instrument cluster: • Parking Brake • ABS • PSM The following warning messages are displayed in the TFT display: • ABS/PSM failure, drive with caution • Steering lock fault • Parking brake fault • Lane change assist currently unavailable • Rear axle steering fault, drive with caution (if equipped) Information: It is possible, under certain driving conditions, that one wheel is not in contact with the ground. For example, exiting or entering a driveway where there is a difference in the slope of the two driving surfaces. Due to the stiffness of the body, a wheel loses contact with the ground (typically on the front axle) and does not spin. A fault is set for that wheel speed sensor, and subsequent warnings are illuminated. Fault codes for the wheel speed sensors are: 004201 - Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor, Implausible Measured Values 004211 - Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor, Implausible Measured Values 004221 - Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor, Implausible Measured Values 004231 - Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor, Implausible Measured Values The fault is not automatically cleared after a key cycle. It has to be cleared at the dealer. ©2017 Porsche Cars North America, Inc. It is possible to prevent this situation and keep all four wheels on the ground by changing the approach angle between driving surfaces with different slopes. A thorough visual inspection should be performed to rule out any other possible damages or defects. The faults should be cleared and proper operation verified on a test drive. Please do not replace sensors at this time. Service Manager ________ Shop Foreman ________ Service Technician ________ ________ ________ ________ Asst.
