Workshop findings: The noise comes from the sealing sleeve/steering column opening on the bulkhead. The steering column adjustment is set in the lower range. The steering shaft rests on the cone of the sealing sleeve (Figure 1). Figure 1. Steering shaft rests on the sealing sleeve (also known as sealing lip). Technical Background Incorrect positioning of the sealing sleeve (lip) in the bulkhead in connection with unfavorable tolerances of the components. Production Solution Not applicable. Note: This procedure contains mandatory replaceable parts. Refer to component overview and parts catalog prior to starting the procedure. Proceed as follows: 1. Loosen the rubber sealing sleeve (A) and push it upwards as far as possible and retighten (Figure 2). Figure 2. Sealing sleeve (also known as sealing lip). 3.
