Message in IC "Engine Oil Level - Reduce Oil Level" Topic number LI18.00-P-072476 Version 1 Function group 18.00 - General Date 2/18/21 Validity Model 190 with M178 Reason for change Complaint Message in instrument cluster "Engine Oil Level - Reduce Oil Level" Cause Engine oil level too high even though oil level appears to be OK when measured with dipstick Remedy Step 1: Call up workshop menu and calculate and document oil flow quantity under following conditions: • • • Let vehicle run at idle (oil temperature greater than 90°C) and read off oil quantity in workshop menu. Let vehicle run at 2000 rpm (oil temperature greater than 90°C) and read off oil quantity in workshop menu. Let vehicle run at 2700 rpm (oil temperature greater than 90°C) and read off oil quantity in workshop menu. Note: The oil flow quantity must not exceed 5.5 liters Step 2: Weigh the oil. For this purpose, the oil container drain screw and the oil pan drain screw must be opened and the oil filter must be removed Document calculated oil quantity (weight and, where applicable, liters) Assess oil quality: • Is the oil diluted with fuel?
