Message in instrument cluster "Engine Oil Level - Reduce Oil Level"
Cause
Engine oil level too high even though oil level appears to be OK when measured with dipstick
Remedy
Step 1:
Call up workshop menu and calculate and document oil flow quantity under following conditions:
•
•
•
Let vehicle run at idle (oil temperature greater than 90°C) and read off oil quantity in workshop menu.
Let vehicle run at 2000 rpm (oil temperature greater than 90°C) and read off oil quantity in workshop menu.
Let vehicle run at 2700 rpm (oil temperature greater than 90°C) and read off oil quantity in workshop menu.
Note:
The oil flow quantity must not exceed 5.5 liters
Step 2:
Weigh the oil. For this purpose, the oil container drain screw and the oil pan drain screw must be opened and the oil
filter must be removed
Document calculated oil quantity (weight and, where applicable, liters)
Assess oil quality:
•
Is the oil diluted with fuel?
Note:

Operation step 3:
Reduce oil level to 6.5 l and fill
Note:
Depending on engine oil used, 6.5 l equates approximately to 5500 g
Operation step 4:
Where applicable, repeat measurement from Step 1 and document oil flow quantity after reduction
Note:
If anything is unclear, or if the problem re-occurs after carrying out these steps, please create a PTSS case and include the calculated values (and the calculations from the previous workshop visit where applicable)
