Page 1 of 2 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN Electronic Steering Actuator - Steering Assist Fault Message With DTC U0131 And/Or Increased Steering Effort At Engine Start-Up 212078 17 March 2021 Model: Ford 2020 Super Duty Issue: Some 2020 F-Super Duty vehicles built on or before 10-Jul-2020 and equipped with an electronic steering actuator may exhibit increased steering effort at initial engine start-up, a Steering Assist Fault message present, and/or an illuminated steering warning indicator with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U0131 stored in the instrument panel cluster (IPC). This may be due to the software in the power steering control module (PSCM). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to update the software in the PSCM. Action: Follow the Service Procedure to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria: • 2020 F-Super Duty • Built on or before 10-Jul-2020 • Equipped with an electronic steering actuator • Exhibits increased steering effort at initial engine start-up, a Steering Assist Fault message present, and/or an illuminated steering warning indicator with DTC U0131 stored in the IPC Warranty Status: Eligible under provisions of New Vehicle Limited Warranty (NVLW)/Service Part Warranty (SPW)/Special Service Part (SSP)/Extended Service Plan (ESP) coverage. Limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. NVLW/SPW/SSP/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.
