An SSM is a quick method of communicating "Need To Know" information to the technical service community. SSM's may be issued in advance of a technical bulletin or may be the only communication on a given topic. All information contained in Land Rover technical communications are intended for use by trained, professional technicians with the knowledge, tools, and equipment required to complete the procedure correctly and safely. It informs the Technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or provides information that could assist in correct vehicle and diagnostic service. SSM 75305 - Deployable Side Steps Not Operating Models : Discovery / L462 Engineer Richard Attwood Name : Last 04 MAR 2021 16:47:39 Modified : Category : Accessories Symptom : Electrical Accessories Content : Issue: A customer may report that the Deployable Side Steps (DSS) do not operate as expected when a door is opened or closed on L462 Discovery 21MY vehicles only. Cause: DSS module software can go into an offline mode as the vehicle bus network awakes. Action: If the concern above is experienced, the DSS module can be brought back into operation by carrying out any of the following actions: Vehicle battery hard reset Removal and refit of fuse 39R located in the rear junction box If the DSS operation is not restored after carrying out any of the above steps continue with diagnosis with reference to the TOPIx Workshop Manual and Pathfinder N o t e: This communication will be updated in the near future when a new DSS software release is available using Pathfinder.
