Discharged battery , battery discharged after vehicle service.
Possible TCM did not shut down properly.
If you have a vehicle in for service that requires disconnecting the battery and the battery is
disconnected before the vehicle has properly gone to sleep it is possible to put the TCM in a
state where it will not power mode correctly. The result of this is a 400 mA draw that is
constant. After service or if the vehicle has now returned with a discharged battery it will
necessary to verify using GDS that this condition is not present before releasing the vehicle
to the customer.
Correction:
Open GDS and select Module Diagnostics > K71 Transmission control Module > Data display
> Transmission Data . Scroll to the bottom of the list and view "Control Module Wake Up
Source". If the value for this parameter is "Battery Reconnect Detected" it will be necessary
to reset the K71 Transmission Control Module. If this parameter does not read "Battery
Reconnect Detected" proceed with regular battery drain diagnostics.
Back up in GDS to Module Diagnostics then select K71 Transmission Control Module >
Configuration And Reset Functions > Transmission Module Reset and follow the on screen
instructions.
Verify in the Data Display that the Control Module Wake Up Source no longer reads Battery
Reconnect Detected. It may be necessary to perform the reset procedure more than once for
the parameter to change.
Once verified the reset has occurred, perform an SPS reprogram of the K71 Transmission
Control Module.
