Classificatio n: Reference: EL13-049 Date: NTB13-105 December 4, 2013 2011-2013 LEAF; EV WARNING LIGHT “ON” AFTER USING A PEP CHARGING STATION APPLIED VEHICLE: 2011 – 2013 LEAF (ZE0) SERVICE INFORMATION “PEP Charging Stations” (Figure 1) that are in operation as of the publication date of this bulletin may not comply with all of the SAE J1772 Standard specifications for error free charging of the LEAF. If the PEP Charging Station is used, the following may occur: • Charging will not start and the EV Warning Light will illuminate with DTC’s P3171, P3170, and P316C for PD Module System and B29C1 for EVSE (Electric Vehicle Service Equipment). ¾ If DTC’s are set, charging will not start until they are cleared with CONSULT III plus (C-III plus). Or • Charging may begin and complete to 100%, but P3171, P3170, and P316C for PD Module System and B29C1 for EVSE will set, and prevent charging. ¾ DTC’s can be moved to a “past” condition by cycling the ignition two times which will allow the next charge cycle to begin. NOTE: Past DTC’s will not clear by cycling the ignition and will remain until cleared with C-III plus. IMPORTANT: Do not replace any parts for either of these conditions. Figure 1 Nissan Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/1
