Classification: Reference: EL16-017 Date: NTB16-039 April 11, 2016 2015 PATHFINDER WITH 4WD; LOW POWER / STOP LAMPS STAY ON APPLIED VEHICLE: 2015 Pathfinder (R52) 4WD with V6 engines only IF YOU CONFIRM The following, or the customer reports the following: Intermittently there is low power when accelerating, And/or The stop lamps (brake lights) stay ON after releasing the brake pedal, with the ignition ON or OFF. ACTION 1. Delete the stop lamp relay. 2. Replace the stop lamp switch with the one listed in PARTS INFORMATION. 3. Install brake light switch bypass harness. IMPORTANT: The purpose of “ACTION” (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing the repair. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/8 SERVICE PROCEDURE Stop Lamp Relay Deletion 1. Remove the stop lamp fuse (#10) from the “junction box” fuse block in the Instrument panel. 2. Remove “fuse and relay box” (fuse box) cover and locate stop lamp relay (Figure 1). Fuse box located on bulkhead (engine wall) above engine. Stop lamp relay Figure 1 Stop lamp relay removed 3. Remove the stop lamp relay (Figure 2). NOTE: This relay will not be reinstalled. Remove instrument lower panel LH Refer to the Electronic Service Manual (ESM), section IP – Instrument Panel for removal information. Instrument lower panel LH Figure 3 2. Disconnect harness connector E28, shown in Figure 4, from the back of Fuse Block (J/B). If needed refer to the Electronic ESM, section PG – Power Supply, Ground & Circuit Elements for further information on harness connector E28 and Fuse Block (J/B). NOTE: Fuse Block (J/B) is shown detached from support bracket. Harness connector E28 can be disconnected with Fuse Block (J/B) left in place. Fuse Block (J/B) Fuse Block (J/B) Figure 4 3/8 Harness connector E28 NTB16-039 3. Connect jumper harness (part #: 24167-9PB1E) between Fuse Block (J/B) and harness connector E28 (Figure 5). Route the jumper harness behind the support bracket as shown in Figure 8. Jumper harness Figure 8 Jumper harness clip 7. Clip the jumper harness to the support bracket (Figure 9). 8. Locate the stop lamp switch connector and disconnect it from stop lamp switch. Stop lamp switch Figure 10 Discard protective cap Jumper harness 10. Insert the single wire of the jumper harness (part #: 24167-9PB1E) into pin No. 3 of the stop lamp switch connector in vehicle harness (Figure 11). NOTE: Remove and discard plastic protective cap that covers the end of the single wire. Figure 11 Stop lamp harness Jumper harness 11. Connect the stop lamp switch connector into the sub-harness (part #: 241679PB2E). Sub-harness Figure 12 6/8 NTB16-039 12. Replace the stop lamp switch with the part listed in PARTS INFORMATION. Refer to the ESM, section BR – Brake System / Brake Pedal for replacement information and adjustment. New stop lamp switch (black) Old stop lamp switch (white) Figure 13 Figure 14 Sub-harness 13. Connect the sub-harness to the stop lamp switch (Figure 15). Stop lamp switch 14. Unclip the stop lamp harness from the support bracket (Figure 16). Figure 15 Sub-harness connector Harness clip 15. Tape the sub-harness connector to the adjacent stop lamp harness (Figure 16). Tape the harness so that the subharness is facing downward. Apply the tape above the harness clip. 16. Re-attach the stop lamp harness to the support bracket. 17.
