PURPOSE
A hood flutter may occur on certain 2022 Outlanders depending on the amount of air flow
on the front end of the vehicle. Higher speeds may increase the force of air flow, potentially
causing a hood flutter.
Countermeasure front end and grill side (both LH/RH sides) weather strips with internal
padding have been incorporated into production as of May 2021, to minimize the hood
flutter.
All units in stock or in transit to your dealership built prior to production countermeasure
implementation (see below), must have this procedure performed. All previously sold
vehicles should have the procedure performed on a customer complaint basis only.
NOTE: If TSB-21-001 has not been completed, that TSB should also be completed in
conjunction with the weather strip change. If TSB-21-001 was already completed, please do
not re-adjust the hood latch and bumper adjustment.
Please review the information below to determine which of the weather strips need to be
replaced.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
UNITED STATES:
All 2022 Outlander with production dates prior to April 27, 2021 need "ALL 3"
countermeasure weather strips replaced (front end and grill sides - both LH and RH).
Certain 2022 Outlander with production dates between April 27, 2021 and May 12, 2021
need the "2" countermeasure weather strip sides (LH/RH) replaced.
PUERTO RICO/CANADA:
All 2022 Outlander with production dates prior to May 11, 2021 need "ALL 3"
countermeasure weather strips replaced (front end and grill sides - both LH and RH).
Certain 2022 Outlander with production dates between May 11, 2021 and May 12, 2021 need
the "2" countermeasure weather strip sides (LH/RH) replaced.

PROCEDURE
Hood Weather Strip Replacement
1.
Remove the W/STRIP, HOOD FR END and W/STRIP, HOOD GRILL SIDE LH/RH (3 pieces total).
a. The W/STRIP, Hood Grill Side LH has WHITE CLIPS.
b. The W/STRIP, Hood Grill Side RH has BLUE CLIPS.
2. Install the 3 pieces: W/STRIP, HOOD FR END (65820W000P) and W/STRIP, HOOD GRILL SIDE
LH/RH (65849W010P/65848W010P).
a. W/STRIP, HOOD GRILL SIDE RH has BLUE clips.
b. W/STRIP, HOOD GRILL SIDE LH has WHITE clips.
