Equipped with 5.2L (4HK1) Diesel Engines
INFORMATION
An investigation of returned fuel injectors has shown that injectors are being
unnecessarily replaced. We have identified a common occurrence of an illuminated
Malfunction Indication Light (MIL) with DTC P0172 Fuel Trim System Rich set in the
Engine Control Module (ECM). Through the analysis of returned injectors, we have
determined the injectors were not the cause of this DTC setting. This DTC may be
resolved by reprogramming the ECM with the revised calibration.
Follow the diagnostic for this DTC. If no mechanical fault can be found during normal
diagnosis, follow the service procedure in this bulletin to correct the concern.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
If the calibration part number does NOT match the calibration number listed in the table
below, reprogram the ECM with the latest software and calibration using the Isuzu
Diagnostic Service System (IDSS):
