An oil film running down a shock absorber
indicates that it leaks. The shock absorber
must only be replaced if this leak can be
clearly assigned to it, as shown in the picture.

A minor oil film and a resulting dirt build-up are
no indication of a leak. They result from oil
residues during the installation or caused by
"sweating" of the shock absorber.
There is no restriction in the function of the
shock absorber. Tests with such components
show that the shock absorbers are in perfect
working order.
Do not replace any components.
The following illustrations show examples of
non-leaking or "sweating" shock absorbers
(Figures 2 - 4).
