Service Kit Bulletin Date: September 7, 2021 Bulletin Name: FDM-SVC-010 Model: Oshkosh S-Series Units Affected: 2.0 Front Discharge Mixers 2.0 Water In Fuel Filter Connector Purpose: This bulletin provides instruction for installing a jumper harness between the water in fuel filter and powertrain wiring harness. Oshkosh has received reports of fuel system faults specific to wiring of the water in fuel filter. Installing the jumper harness corrects broken water in fuel filter harness wiring. Notice: • This bulletin should be read and understood in its entirety before performing this procedure. • All procedures outlined in the bulletin must be performed by skilled service personnel. Refer to the product service manual for descriptions of maintenance procedures. SAFETY NOTICE SAFETY NOTICE Perform your company’s Lockout/Tagout procedure. If your company does not have a Lockout/Tagout procedure, follow OSHA 1910.147 and 1910.146 Confined Space as appropriate. Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by your company. Tools and Equipment Required: Customer to supply: • • • • • Wire cutter Mulitmeter Deutsch terminal crimper Electrical tape Zip ties Parts Required: Item Part Number 1 A000W245 WIRE HARN, WIF JUMPER,SVC Description 1 2 A000W332 CONN, DEU,DT 2 P, SVC 1 3 A000W335 CONTACT, SOCKET 16-20 AWG, SVC 2 4 A000W354 WEDGE LOCK, 2 POSITION, PLUG, SVC 1 1 Qty. Procedure: Lockout/Tagout 1. Place unit on a flat surface, engage parking brake, chock truck tires, and perform your company’s Lockout/ Tagout procedure. If your company does not have a Lockout/Tagout procedure, follow OSHA 1910.147 and 1910.146 Confined Space as appropriate. 2. The vehicle’s BATTERY DISCONNECT switch is located on the left-hand side of the battery box. Use the battery disconnect switch when performing any maintenance so the vehicle cannot accidentally be started. a. Turn the battery disconnect switch (Figure A, Item 1) counterclockwise so the hole on the switch aligns with the hole in the bracket (Figure A, Item 2). b. Install the safety lockout device ring (Figure B, Item 1) through the holes on the battery disconnect switch and the bracket. c. Install a padlock (Figure B, Item 2) onto the safety lockout device ring, lock it, and put the key in your pocket. Disconnect connector C59 from bottom of water in fuel filter, see Figure 1. Water In Fuel Filter Connector C59 Figure 1 2 4. Trace connector C59 harness wires back to powertrain harness, see Figure 2. Remove zip ties securing C59 harness wires. 5. Check connector C59 yellow and blue wires for continuity starting at connector C59. Continue checking for continuity of yellow and blue wires back towards powertrain harness until finding continuity. Cut harness yellow and blue wires where continuity is found. Connector C59 will not be reused. C59 Wire Harness Powertrain Harness Figure 2 6. Remove a portion of loom and strip ends of yellow and blue harness wires coming from powertrain harness. 7. Crimp Deutsch socket connectors (A000W335) on stripped ends of blue and yellow wires using Deutsch crimping tool. 8. Insert blue wire into position 1 of Deutsch 2 pin connector (A000W332). 9. Insert yellow wire into position 2 of Deutsch 2 pin connector (A000W332). 10. Insert wedge lock (A000W354) in end of Deutsch 2 pin connector. Connect Deutsch end of jumper harness (A000W245) to Deutsch connector installed in Step 10, see Figure 4. 13. Connect water in fuel filter connector into bottom of water in fuel filter, see Figure 4.
