Condition
After performing a transmission repair, the basic setting cannot be performed due to an Active/Static fault.
Workshop findings:
Basic settings fail due to the following DTC stored in the transmission control module (TCM), J217 (address word
0002):
 DTC P17F900 (Parking lock Mechanical Malfunction).
Technical Background
Lack of hydraulic pressure after a repair can cause the issue.

Service
If the above conditions apply, proceed as follows:
Select the transmission selector positions in the following sequence:
1. Terminal 15 on and start the engine.
2. Select transmission position N.
3. Stay at least 60 seconds in N so that the accumulator can be filled up.
4. Change briefly to P.
5. Select N again and wait 10 seconds.
6. Turn off the vehicle in P, terminal 15 stays on.
Now the fault memory DTC P17F9 should change from active to passive and can be deleted. It should now be
possible to perform the basic setting.
