AFFECTED VEHICLES: 2022 Outlander
PURPOSE: Improved Customer Satisfaction
Symptom
❖ Sonar activates with nothing in front of the vehicle at low speeds under 6
mph
❖ AV displays forward facing camera during times that aren’t expected, such as:
➢ Turning into a driveway
➢ At stop lights
➢ While in turn lanes near guard rails etc.
Action
Refer to the Owner Manual prior to proceeding with the inspection:
❖ Instruments & Controls 2-23
➢ Summary of features and options available
❖ Starting & Driving 5-164
➢ Detailed description of system operation
➢ Cautions of using the system
➢ Limitations of the system
➢ Settings available to deactivate the system if they choose
Inspection
❖ Verify the cleanliness of all sonar sensors
❖ Inspect mounting of sensors and look for any potential body damage that would impact
the sensor aim
❖ Drive the vehicle to ensure sensor operation is normal
❖ Check for fault codes that could indicate a circuit failure and or component failure
Next steps
❖ If there is still concern after reviewing the Owner Manual and performing inspections for
dirt debris and damage:
➢ Perform further diagnostic steps per the service manual
➢ Inspect the vehicle for diagnostic trouble codes that may provide further
information
➢ Call Techline after exhausting internal resources
➢ Have ALL-DTC data & FFD available along with any other pictures or information
that is significant and upload into the case prior to calling
