Complaint
Red steering wheel symbol and error messages about non-functional parking brake, non-functional traffic sign assist and restraint system malfunction are displayed in the instrument cluster after opening the driver's door. The error
messages are no longer displayed after ignition "ON".
The problem can be duplicated as follows:

Lock vehicle
Waiting time > 8 minutes
Unlock vehicle
Open driver's door
Note: The errors displayed in the instrument cluster have no impact on the vehicle's functions.

Cause
Due to a hardware fault in the EZS, there is a problem with starting up the FlexRay communication when opening the
driver's door after the vehicle was in bus idle. When the ignition is then switched on, the FlexRay communication is restarted and functions properly.
Remedy
Replace electronic ignition switch.
Symptoms
Body > Safety system > Airbag/Supplemental restraint system SRS > Indicator lamp > SRS indicator lamp > lit
Chassis/suspension > Steering system > Display message > Pow. steer. faulty Serviced Required
Chassis/suspension > Brake system > Parking brake > Display message > Parking brake - Parking brake see Owner's Man.
